Willis Towers Watson announces partnership with Plug and Play to find the next generation of HR Tech startups
Willis Towers Watson - the employee benefits technology and brokerage firm - has announced a partnership with Plug and Play, a startup incubator and business tech developer.
The company intends to use this partnership to drive new HR application discovery.
Both firms are together looking at proposals from HR solutions startups which are focused on addressing recruiting, onboarding, workforce analytics, human capital analytics, talent intelligence, and performance management.
All proposals received will become part of Enterprise 2.0 - Plug and Play's solutions platform that works on the various elements behind a successful enterprise.
As per the collaboration, Plug and Play will look at HCM tech startups, while Willis will opine, seek alliances, and possibly invest in these startups.
Suzanne McAndrew, Global Head, Talent Business for Willis shared her thoughts:
"We get to see them firsthand, and our goal would be to determine if we are finding startups in the HR space to help with recruitment, onboarding, engaging people in different ways and more."
Plug and Play will focus on helping HR executives explore cutting edge technology that improves capabilities while reducing costs.
Mark Gregory, Head, Product and Partners for Enterprise 2.0 at Plug and Play, discussed the company's plans behind the synergy:
"It allows the HR department not to rely on their innovation sourcing with development teams; [Instead] it allows them to work with people who understand HR technology and function in an organization and innovation overall. This moves the burden to us where we do the sourcing, vetting and match-making with our corporate partners, and it takes away the need for corporate to build these solutions in-house, which is often expensive, time-intensive and may not always succeed."
Meanwhile, McAndrew suggested how the market was ready for a new wave in HR Tech - and how his firm was looking at state-of-the-art, disruptive solutions that could offer genuine change and a clear competitive edge.
